Saudi Arabia has made the country's certificate mandatory for foreigners to work in five sectors. As part of this, a pilot project has been undertaken to send skilled manpower from Bangladesh to those sectors. Under which Bangladeshis have to go to work in Saudi Arabia with a certificate after passing the test. Those five sectors are plumber, welding, automobile, electrician and AC mechanic.

In a press conference on the occasion of the opening of the Skill Verification Program at the Saudi Embassy on Tuesday, Ambassador Isa bin Yusuf Al Duhailan said, if the salary of unskilled workers is 800 to 1,200 riyals, then the salary of those skilled workers will be 1,500 to 1,800 riyals. As a result, they can earn more if they work with certificates in those five sectors.

An agreement has been signed between Bangladesh Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET) and Saudi government agency Takanol to conduct this examination. Two institutes of Bangladesh will provide the necessary support to take the exam. Workers do not have to pay any money for this. A Bangladeshi can take the exam as many times as he wants. The validity of the certificate will be five years after the examination.

The ambassador said that such tests have already been launched in India and Pakistan. Traditional workers are not required to undergo any such test. But if you want to work in Saudi Arabia in those five sectors, you will need a certificate.

About the benefits of that charter, Isa bin Yusuf said, Bangladesh has benefits if it invests in manpower. Second, certified individuals will be considered more skilled than other workers. Thirdly, they will get more earning opportunities.

When asked about the content of the certificate exam, the ambassador said, "We will look at the Arabic language and some customs and whether they can use new technology equipment or not." He said that several Saudi businessmen have expressed interest in providing training in this regard. Such training center will be established in future.

Stating that there is no obstacle for traditional workers to go to Saudi Arabia due to this new system, he said, "We are giving visas to five thousand Bangladeshi workers every day."

Director General of Manpower Employment and Training Bureau. Shahidul Alam said, 'We may have sent skilled workers, but they have no recognition. Through this certificate, those workers will be given a certificate of competence and it will be given by the Saudi authorities. That certificate will be given through Takanal.'

Fahad Al Qasim, director general of Takanal, said, "We want to verify the skills of the workers before going to Saudi Arabia."
