Google's parent company Alphabet has laid off 12,000 workers. The news of the layoffs came to the employees through an emotional e-mail from the company's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sundar Pichai. Among the 12,000 retrenched workers are ordinary workers and high-ranking officials. Many of them have expressed their opinion on this matter on social media.
According to the report of NDTV Online, the company's software engineering manager Justin Moore is among those 12,000 workers. He said on LinkedIn, a popular social media platform for professionals, that he has been working at Google for more than 16 and a half years. His account was suddenly closed around 3 pm. Then he came to know that he was among the retrenched workers.
Justin Moore also said, 'After working at Google for more than 16 and a half years, I was informed that I was one of the lucky 12,000 people by closing my account at three in the morning. Apart from this, no other information was given to me, nor was I contacted in any other way.'
