Alphabet, Google's parent company, will cut 12,000 employees, the company's chief executive officer (CEO) Sundar Pichai said on Friday. He gave this information a few days after the company's rival Microsoft Corporation in the technology market announced the layoff of 10,000 workers.
According to information provided by Google, Alphabet employees from different parts of the world will fall under this layoff. This will soon affect the company's employees in the United States. This layoff will be done from among the employees of various departments including human resources, products and engineering of the company.
Alphabet announced the layoffs at a time when the world is facing economic uncertainty. In the meantime, the related institutions are promising to take the technology forward. It can be said about Google and Microsoft. They are investing heavily in artificial intelligence.
In this regard, Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet, said, 'I am confident about the huge opportunity that lies ahead of us. For this, the purpose with which we continue to work, the capability, the quality we have been able to create in our products and services and our decision to invest early in artificial intelligence deserve praise.'
