General Mark Mille, the US military's Joint Chiefs of Staff, warned that the war in Ukraine would be prolonged. He said it would be "very difficult" to expel Russian troops currently fighting in Ukraine from Ukraine within this year. Yesterday, Friday, the General said these things.

Representatives of 54 countries are meeting in Germany to discuss more arms-aid to Ukraine. There, Mark Mille told reporters yesterday, "From a military point of view, I still think it will be very difficult to drive out the Russian troops and recover the territory occupied by Russia this year."

Mark Mille talks of 'remarkable fighting' between troops on both sides in large parts of Ukraine. The top US general said there was fighting on two sides from Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, to Kherson in the south and Bakhmut in the northeast. The length of these areas is more than one thousand kilometers.

General Mark Mille said, 'Fighting is still going on in a wide area. This means many Russian troops are still in Ukraine. Therefore, from a military point of view, I think it will be very difficult to expel the Russian troops this year. But that doesn't mean it's not possible. I just want to say that even if it is possible, it will be very difficult.'
