Bangladeshi Hafiz Muhammad lives in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. Ankara is not among the cities that have been severely affected by the earthquake. However, Hafiz told Prothom Alo on the phone that they are worried. Because after the earthquake there is an aftershock. Everyone is in fear whether there will be another big earthquake or not.

Talked with Hafiz this Tuesday afternoon, it was morning in Turkey. Hafeez went to Turkey in late 2019 for higher studies. He is giving various information about the earthquake on the social media Facebook.

Hafiz said that his wife Farzana Akhter has been with him for six months. She (Farzana) is very scared. His and his wife's family members in Bangladesh are also in fear. All in all, he is going through a terrible mental crisis.

It has been snowing in Ankara for several days. Weather conditions are very bad. Hafiz said, other years it snows in December. This is in February. It still snowed today. Rescue work is being hampered in the cities that have been hit the hardest by the earthquake due to unfavorable weather conditions. Students and others in the country have been urged to join the rescue effort.

Hafiz also said that Golam Said (Ringku), a Bangladeshi student of Kahramanmaras Sutcu Imam University in Turkey, has not been found after the earthquake. The building he lived in has been reduced to rubble. The building was near the source of the earthquake. Another Bangladeshi, Nurey Alam, who was in that building, managed to get out.

A strong earthquake of magnitude 7.8 hit the southeastern part of Turkey on Monday. This earthquake occurred at 4:17 am local time in Turkey. The epicenter of the earthquake was near the Turkish city of Gaziantep on the border with Syria. More than 4,300 people were killed in the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.

Hafiz said, the country sees the sun around eight o'clock. He woke up yesterday morning around 4:30 am. Maybe he woke up because of the earthquake. Then you can know about the dire situation. According to the country's earthquake experts, the earthquake may last from six months to a year. More than 230 hits have been made so far.
