US will deploy Marines in Japan

The United States and Japan have taken new military initiatives to confront China. The two countries have promised to modernize their military relations. At the same time, Washington has announced that more capable marines will be deployed in Japan. This information was given in a joint statement on Wednesday.

A few weeks ago, Japan brought forward the increase in defense spending. After that, the country's defense minister and foreign minister went on a visit to Washington. The statement was given after talking to US officials there. The statement said, the security environment is deteriorating day by day. Washington and Tokyo have agreed to modernize their relationship to deal with this situation.

Meanwhile, the G-7 conference of seven industrialized countries will be held in Hiroshima, Japan next May. On this occasion, Japanese President Fumio Kishida is visiting the allied countries. He is scheduled to leave for the United States tomorrow, Friday. He was in UK yesterday. There, Kishida took various steps to advance Japan's defense relationship with the UK.

The joint statement issued on Wednesday highlighted China's huge advances in satellite technology. The United States and Japan have warned that any space attack by Beijing is a clear challenge to the security of the Washington-Tokyo alliance. Any such attack would be a violation of Article 5 of the Defense Treaty between the two countries. It is said in that paragraph that if any one country is attacked, it will be considered as being carried out on two countries.

In addition, it was decided in the talks between the officials of the two countries, Washington will send a force of marine members named 'Marine Littoral Regiment' to the Japanese island of Okinawa near Taiwan. According to US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, the force will be deployed in Japan by 2025.
