A close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin has banned Kiev from supplying weapons of mass destruction to Western countries. He says that if Kiev is seen as a threat to Russia by giving it weapons of mass destruction, a global catastrophe could ensue. He argued for the non-use of weapons of mass destruction.

The speaker of the Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament, Vychaslav Volodin, warned that the support of the United States and the Western military alliance NATO in Ukraine is leading the world to a terrible war.

Volodin said on the messaging app Telegram that if weapons supplied by Washington and NATO were used to strike and take control of civilian cities as they threatened, they would be retaliated with more powerful weapons. The argument that no nuclear power has previously used weapons of mass destruction in local conflicts is invalid here. Because, these countries have not faced such a situation before, where their people's security and territorial integrity were threatened.

Last week, Ukraine's Western allies announced hundreds of billions of dollars in military aid to Kiev in response to attacks by Russian troops. However, Germany did not promise to give their Leopard tanks to Kiev.

Since the start of the offensive on February 24 last year, Russian troops have taken control of one-fifth of the country. Moscow said, they will not return the territory. It is being said from the side of Kiev that troops must be withdrawn from Ukraine in order to hold peace talks.

Former Russian President Dmitri Medvedev echoed Volodin's words last week. He said the defeat of Russian forces in Ukraine could lead to a nuclear war.

Medvedev discussed NATO's support for the Ukrainian military on the messaging app Telegram. He said nuclear powers never lose a major war. Because their fate depends on it. Medvedev served as President of Russia from 2008 to 2012.

Supplying arms to Ukraine

Last Friday, 50 countries led by the US gathered at the Ramstein air base in Germany for the Ukraine Contact Group meeting. Before the meeting, it was expected that Germany would agree to supply Leopard tanks to Ukraine, but this did not happen. Protests in Germany over supply of Leopard tanks. In Berlin, hundreds of people protested outside the Federal Chancellery building, calling on Germany to send tanks to Ukraine. According to the news agency Reuters, in this situation, Boris Pistorius, the country's new defense minister, is visiting Kiev. A new agreement is still expected from the UK to send tanks to Kiev.

Last Friday, about 50 countries agreed to supply heavy military weapons worth several billion dollars to Ukraine. These include armored vehicles and weapons. It is being given to help Kiev fight off an onslaught of Russian forces.

Germany is under considerable pressure to supply tanks in the Russia-Ukraine war. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said, 'We cannot yet say when a decision will be made and what the decision will be. This question has arisen after talking about the Leopard tank.'

Ukraine wants German-made Leopard-2 tanks. Several allies have echoed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in saying that Germany's tanks are essential in a war with a far more powerful neighbor than Ukraine.

According to Al-Jazeera, Ukraine says its people are dying because of 'global indecision'. Ukraine made the comments after Germany put on hold a decision to supply Ukraine with Leopard tanks to bolster Kiev's fighting capabilities against Russia. As for Ukraine, more people in their country are dying because of this indecision.

"Today's indecision is killing more of us," Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo Podoliak tweeted last Saturday. The longer the delay, the greater the number of Ukrainian deaths. Think fast.'

According to Reuters, Kiev has been told to refrain from major attacks against Russia until it receives new weapons and training. Meanwhile, Russia has increased shelling in eastern Ukraine. Russian troops have stepped up attacks in the Zaporizhzhya and Sumy regions outside the country's industrial zone of Donbass. Moscow claims that they are in a more advantageous position in the recent fighting.
