India is not willing to negotiate with Pakistan unless cross-border terrorism and atmosphere of fear is stopped. India's Ministry of External Affairs made it clear on Thursday. Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said in this context that India always wants normal good neighborly relations with Pakistan. But that requires a normal environment, where there is no climate of fear or terror.
During his recent visit to the Emirates, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in an interview to a news channel expressed his interest in starting closed bilateral talks. When asked about India's opinion in this regard, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in Thursday's weekly briefing that the interview of the Prime Minister of Pakistan has come to our attention. After his interview, a statement was also released from the Secretariat of the Prime Minister of Pakistan. There is also some explanation given.
